Lois' Peru report

Carl Sexton on October 19, 2019

This is LOIS
writing a quick note
to THANK YOU
for praying for me in Peru!

I was cleaning up the seminar room and getting everything packed up for our flight home when I noticed the red and green circles scattered around on the tables.
In a rush, I threw them in the bottom of my suitcase.  Now I know why!

Tears came to my eyes as I read what the attendees had written on these circles!
These are things they felt convicted to start doing and to stop doing after studying through Jesus’ interactions with Zacchaeus in Luke 19.
Stop being afraid to engage.
Start seeing the person behind the lifestyle.
Stop avoiding what could be awkward conversations.
Start affirming the individual and love them!
Stop condemning!
   Start engaging!
Stop isolating myself from sinners.
Start engaging and make a plan to be with them!
Stop placing behavior over personhood.
Start reaching out rather than avoiding.
Stop being disgusted.
   Start looking at them.
Stop assuming I know the individual’s problem.
   Start listening!
Stop analyzing where the parents failed.
Start "walking with" the family of the "gay" individual.
Stop worrying about the perceptions.
Start worrying about people for whom Christ died!

"Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to your name goes all the glory for your
unfailing love and faithfulness."  Psalm 115:2
